112 Deputy John Deasy asked the Minister for Transport the status of phase III of the western rail corridor (details supplied) ; if funding has been allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [35118/10]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe first phase of the Western Rail Corridor was opened on 29th March 2010. The Department has received an application for funding from Iarnród Éireann for the detailed design and tender preparation stage for Phase 2. This will involve a detailed estimate of costs for the construction of Phase 2. The exact timeframe for when the project will move to construction will be influenced by the outcome of this stage. Progress on Phase 3 is scheduled to commence after the opening of Phase 2 on the basis of the detailed analysis which will be required at that time.
