304 Deputy Olivia Mitchell asked the Minister for Defence the cost to his Department of sign replacement resulting from the requirement of the Department and all agencies and bodies under the Department’s remit to replace signs which were in place prior to March 2009 where the existing signs in Irish did not or would not meet the requirements in terms of Irish text by 2012. Signage in all buildings under the remit of the Department of Defence, including all agencies and bodies, is currently being assessed to ensure full compliance with the Official Languages Act. The full associated costs have not yet been calculated.
