553 Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the measures being taken to transfer the control of the Coast Guard Service to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11587/11]
Amharc ar fhreagraOfficials of my Department are engaged in discussions with the Department of Agriculture, Marine and Food on the matter. Discussions have also taken place with the Office of the Attorney General in relation to a number of complex legal issues arising in the transfer. It may take several months to iron out these issues and it may require primary legislation.
