352 Deputy Maureen O’Sullivan asked the Minister for Health when the national gambling impact study, as recommended by the Public Health Institute, will take place; and if it is known, the number of persons addicted to gambling here. [16187/11]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department does not have any plans at present to undertake an impact study on gambling. No gambling prevalence data is available for Ireland but use of international data from other countries suggests approximately one per cent of the population experiences gambling problems which would represent approximately 40,000 individuals in Ireland.
