120 Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will secure a site in Buncrana, County Donegal and commence works on the campus with new buildings for schools (details supplied). [17936/11]
Amharc ar fhreagraI wish to advise the Deputy that preliminary discussions have taken place between officials from County Donegal Vocational Education Committee (VEC), Donegal County Council and my Department in relation to a proposed campus development in Buncrana. The VEC appointed consultants to carry out site suitability assessment reports on a number of potential sites in the area and one of these reports is currently with my Department for consideration. Due to commercial sensitivities attached to the site acquisition process I am not in a position to comment further at this point in time. The acquisition of a suitable site and the delivery of new school buildings will be considered in the context of existing commitments and other competing demands on the Department's capital budget.
