223 Deputy James Bannon asked the Minister for Education and Skills if financial assistance is available for a person (details supplied) in County Longford to enable them to complete the second part of a legal course; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24140/11]
Amharc ar fhreagraI understand that in the case referred to by the Deputy, an application for a grant made to the student's local authority was unsuccessful and that in a subsequent appeal made to the local authority the original decision was upheld. I also understand that a further appeal has now been made to the Student Grants Appeal Board. The board is independent in the exercise of its functions and is due to issue a determination within 60 days of receipt of the appeal.
