355 Deputy Tony McLoughlin asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he will reconsider his decision not to approve funding for the extension of the Sligo and environs sewerage scheme for Cumeen, County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24946/11]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Sligo and Environs Sewerage Scheme, which includes the extension to Cumeen, is included as a scheme at planning in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2012, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library. My Department wrote to Sligo County Council in July 2011 advising that the design review report for the scheme could not be considered further until such time as the council completed a Local Area Plan for the Cumeen area which would provide a clearer basis for determining the nature and scale of water services infrastructure that may be required for the area.
