101 Deputy Simon Harris asked the Minister for Education and Skills when patronage for a new school (details supplied) in County Wicklow will be announced; the deadline for applying to be patron body; when construction of this school will commence; when the school will open; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraIn June this year, I announced that 20 new primary and 20 new post-primary schools are to be established in the next six years across a number of locations. This announcement included a proposal to establish a new school in the area referred to by the Deputy. My Department has recently informed patron bodies of these new schools to be established and has invited applications for patronage of same. The deadline for receipt of applications for patronage of new post-primary schools is Friday the 13th January 2012. Plans will be progressed for the delivery of accommodation for these schools.
The information in relation to where new primary and post-primary schools are required, the criteria for deciding on patronage and the invitation for patronage from interested parties is available on my Department's website, www.education.gov.ie.
