The person concerned was refused carer's allowance on grounds that the Department's medical assessor expressed the opinion that the care recipient is not so disabled as to require full-time care and attention as prescribed in regulations. On the 8th September, she was notified of this decision, the reason for it and of her right of review or appeal, within 21 days to the independent social welfare appeals office.

Amharc ar fhreagraI confirm that an application for carer's allowance was received from the above named on 3 August 2011. On completion of the necessary investigations of all aspects of her claim a decision will be made and the person concerned will be notified directly of the outcome. The average time taken to process a claim to completion, including assessment of the claimant's means and the entitlement of the caree to full time care and attention on medical grounds is approximately 16 weeks.
