71 Deputy Seán Kyne asked the Minister for Social Protection if a waiver will be introduced for the three-month waiting period for application for social welfare schemes after the conclusion of the leaving certificate exams for school-leavers who wish to participate in the work placement programme, WPP, as the current situation excludes such persons from the WPP until six months, at the earliest, have elapsed since the leaving certificate exams, owing to the stipulation that a person must be unemployed for three months and in receipt of a social welfare payment before being eligible for the WPP.
