Ceist:

579 Deputy Dominic Hannigan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the arrangement he has with the company that operates the student travel card scheme which offers deals on transport and other products for students here; if his Department or any of the transport companies under his aegis receive a payment from the company that runs the scheme for the discount it is offering; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Student Travelcard Scheme is a matter for Iarnród Éireann and Dublin Bus, which jointly administer the scheme. Holders of the card are offered discounted travel on CIE services. My Department has no function in relation to the operation of these cards. As such, I have referred the Deputy's question to Iarnród Éireann and Dublin Bus for further response. If the Deputy have not received a response within 10 working days, please inform my private office.
