50 Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Finance if he will review a matter (details supplied) regarding loans; his plans to deal with this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [38987/11]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe decision on whether or not to grant a loan to a borrower must remain a commercial decision for the lending institution concerned. It is important that each lending institution is allowed to assess properly and independently the risks that it is considering when deciding whether or not to approve a loan. The Government acts at arm's length from the lending institutions and does not consider it appropriate to direct an institution on such a matter as the provision of loans for the purchase of motor cars either from a main dealer or from a garage proprietor.
