54 Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Minister for Finance if there were any changes to the tax bands or tax credits that could affect any taxpayer as a result of budget 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4594/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe position is that, in line with the commitment in the Programme for Government, there have been no changes in tax rates, no narrowing of tax bands and no reductions in personal tax credits in Budget 2012. I announced in Budget 2012 that the annual exemption level for the Universal Social Charge will be raised from €4,004 to €10,036 with effect from 1 January 2012. This measure benefits nearly 330,000 people and will assist people to move into the labour market.
