486 Deputy Jonathan O’Brien asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if his attention has been drawn to the report of the UNAIDS advisory group on HIV and sex work, published in December 2011; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4970/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe UNAIDS Advisory Group was formed to provide advice and guidance to UNAIDS on matters related to HIV and sex work paying particular attention to the human rights of female, male and transgender sex workers and the goal of universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support for sex workers. The Group's report was published in December, 2011. Many of the recommendations in this Report fall within the remit of my colleague the Minister for Health. Insofar as there are issues in the Report relevant to my Department, I am arranging for the Report and its recommendations to be examined by officials in my Department. I will consider what further actions, if any, are necessary once this examination has been completed.
