545 Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Defence if he provides a social work service at a location (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7949/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraI am advised by the military authorities that as part of their Personnel Support Service (PSS), personnel serving in the location referred to by the Deputy have access to a full time civilian Social Worker whose task is to provide assistance (preventative and curative) and support to service personnel and their families where required. The PSS is a confidential information, education, support and referral service, designed to give Defence Forces personnel access to information and services both from within and outside of the military community. It is a key element of human resource management. There is a PSS office in every major installation in the Defence Forces.
