120 Deputy Noel Harrington asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform when he intends to extend the Freedom of Information Acts to vocational education committees; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8765/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Programme for Government provides that the Government will legislate to restore and extend the Freedom of Information Acts. My Department is at an advanced stage in the preparation of the General Scheme of a Bill to give effect to the above commitments on Freedom of Information. Subject to Government approval of the draft Heads of the Bill and other priorities in the Government's legislative programme, I expect to be in a position later this year to introduce the Bill to give effect to these commitments. Extension of the Freedom of Information Acts will include consideration of extension of the Acts to the Vocational Education Committees.
