23 Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will be facilitating the public in reporting speed limit issues in view of the review of limits statewide. [8618/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department will shortly engage with the National Roads Authority and local authorities throughout the country with a view to ensuring that a nationwide audit of speed limits takes place. The aim of this audit is to examine and improve, where appropriate, the application by local authorities of speed limits and speed limit signage throughout the country, in accordance with my Department's "Guidelines for the Application of Special Speed Limits” issued last year.
As the application of speed limits on specific roads is a local authority matter, I would encourage members of the public, who wish to report speed limit issues, to contact their relevant city or county council.
