235 Deputy Dominic Hannigan asked the Minister for Education and Skills if there is a minimum age for children to use the post primary school transport service who are going into first year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9424/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThere is no stipulation in my Department's Post Primary School Transport Scheme regarding a minimum age requirement for eligible children who wish to avail of school transport services. However, conditions are set down in the "Rules and Programmes for Secondary Schools", regarding the criteria for the recognition of pupils at second level. One of these rules states that a recognised pupil means a pupil who is not less than 12 years of age on the 1st day of January of the school year.
