543 Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the total cost of running the Garda Traffic Corps each year from 2006 to 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9810/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Garda Commissioner is the Accounting Officer for the Garda Vote. In that context I am informed by the Garda authorities that records in relation to the overall cost of the Traffic Corps service are not readily available due to the fact that the Corps operates on a Divisional basis throughout the country. I am further advised that the provision of this information would require the deployment of a disproportionate amount of Garda resources and, accordingly, I regret that I am not in a position to supply the figures the Deputy has requested.
