176 Deputy Sean Fleming asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the location and grade of all public servants within his Department or related agencies who while not having reached the minimum retirement age to avail of cost neutral early retirement will benefit from the provisions under the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (No. 2) Act 2009; his plans to continue the service provided by each of the retiring staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A person who has not reached minimum retirement age or the minimum age to avail of Cost Neutral Early Retirement cannot benefit from the provisions under the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (No. 2) Act 2009 other than if they were to retire on grounds of ill health.

The impact of the 2012 retirements is being dealt with in the context of my Department's overall workforce planning agenda. My Department is currently undergoing significant internal redeployment and streamlining of business areas to ensure optimum staffing in priority business areas including having regard to retirements by end February 2012.
