Ceisteanna (137)

Michael McCarthy

Ceist:

179 Deputy Michael McCarthy asked the Minister for Education and Skills the position regarding funding levels for a course (details supplied) both this year and over the next five years; the current staffing arrangements for the course; if he will provide an update on the provision of funding for each post; if he will ensure that the future of the course is safe; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy may be aware, third level institutions are autonomous bodies and responsibility for day to day management and operational affairs, including course provision, is a matter for the governing bodies and management of the relevant institution. The Higher Education Authority allocates an annual core recurrent grant to each institution and it is a matter for the institution to determine how this funding is allocated internally. Accordingly, I have no role in this matter.
