794 Deputy Simon Harris asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if it is his intention to tackle the practice of drivers using their fog-lights when not warranted by the weather conditions as part of his efforts to increase road safety; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Road Traffic (Lighting of Vehicles) Regulations 1963 (S.I. No. 189 of 1963) prescribe the lamps and reflectors which vehicles are required to have fitted and the circumstances and the manner in which lamps are to be used in a public place. The Regulations do not require fog lamps to be fitted on motor vehicles. However, where they are fitted, they may be used only in fog or while snow is falling. Enforcement of these Regulations is a matter for An Garda Síochána.
