Amharc ar fhreagraApplications for disability allowance are assessed on a case to case basis by one of the Department's medical assessors who are all fully qualified medical practitioners and who have training/experience in human disability evaluation. The medical assessor's opinion is based on information provided by the person's treating physician in the medical section of the application form. This information includes detail on medical history and investigations and detail on medication and treatment and a competency grid to gauge activities of daily living. Any specialist medical evidence supplied is also reviewed by the medical assessor.
All medical evidence is reviewed by the medical assessor in accordance with Department's evidence based medical protocols and guidelines.
