Amharc ar fhreagraThe age limit for receipt of domiciliary care allowance (DCA) is 16 years. As the child in question is now over 16 years of age, DCA is no longer payable. Persons over the age of 16 years can apply for disability allowance in their own right.
491 Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Social Protection the position regarding the application for a carer’s allowance in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17712/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe person concerned was refused carer's allowance on the grounds that the care recipient is not so disabled as to require full-time care and attention as prescribed in regulations. On 13 April 2012, she was notified of this decision and the reason for it.
