460 Deputy Dessie Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government his plans to stop local authorities refusing to carry out maintenance work on units where tenants are in arrears. [29476/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn accordance with the provisions of the Housing Act, 1966, local authorities are responsible for the management and maintenance of the social housing stock, including assessing the condition of properties and for preparing, adopting and implementing appropriate housing maintenance programmes. It is a matter for local authorities to determine the nature and scale of their maintenance programmes and their response to routine or urgent repair and maintenance requests from tenants.
