171 Deputy Dominic Hannigan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the policy regarding roundabouts that are in the control of the National Roads Authority being part of sponsored roundabout schemes run by county councils; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30129/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme. The planning, design and maintenance of individual road projects, including traffic junctions, is a matter for the National Roads Authority (NRA) under the Roads Acts 1993 to 2007 acting in conjunction with the local authorities in whose administrative area the roads are located.
