211 Deputy Stephen S. Donnelly asked the Minister for Social Protection if she will provide a breakdown of the cost of the survivor’s pension for the nearest year for which this is available; the number receiving this pension; and the total cost of the pension to the State. [33718/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThere were 115,762 recipients of Widow's, Widowers or Surviving Civil Partner's Contributory Pension in December 2011 with 11,310 qualified children. The cost of the scheme was €1.34 billion for the year 2011. In addition, there were 1,959 recipients of Widow's, Widowers or Surviving Civil Partner's Non-Contributory Pension in December 2011 at a cost of €18.2 million for the year 2011.
