The development of Primary Care is central to this Government's objective of delivering a high-quality, integrated and cost-effective health system. The development of Primary Care Centres (PCCs), through a combination of public and private investment, will facilitate the delivery of multidisciplinary primary care and represents a tangible refocusing of the health service to deliver care in the most appropriate and lowest cost setting. There are currently 36 PCCs in operation around the country and of these, 15 have come into operation since February 2011. My Department has asked the HSE to provide information on the number of these that have become operational since April 2011. I will revert to the Deputy as soon as I have this information.
