110. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Finance if he will explain the purpose of the €100m loan from the European Investment Bank, shown in the August 2012 Exchequer statement. [41248/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe purpose of this loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) is to assist in funding the Department of Education and Skills’ capital investment programme. This loan will provide funding for the planned exchequer schools building programme, which involves the construction and upgrading of primary and secondary schools across the country. The EIB loan substitutes for other sources of funding at favourable terms and conditions for the state and it will not fund additional projects.
