129. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection if and when an application for carer's allowance will issue in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [43533/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraI confirm that the department is in receipt of an application for carer’s allowance from the person in question on 17 September 2012. The medical evidence that was received has been forwarded to the Department’s medical assessor for consideration and the application will be processed as quickly as possible. When a decision is made the person concerned will be notified directly of the outcome. In the meantime, if the person in question has insufficient means to meet her needs she should apply for a means tested supplementary welfare allowance from her local community welfare officer.
