116. Deputy John O'Mahony asked the Minister for Education and Skills when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a decision on their application for a student grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [45047/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraOfficials in my Department have confirmed with SUSI, the new centralised grant awarding authority, that the student referred to by the Deputy submitted a grant application after the closing date. It is a matter for SUSI to determine at its own absolute discretion whether or not to accept a late application. The Deputy will appreciate that priority will be given to applications that were received before the closing date.
