76. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he is satisfied that no Garda stations in County Kildare will close in view of the threat of organised crime arising from close proximity to the capital city; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [54807/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Policing Plan for 2013, which I am laying before the House today, outlines the Commissioner's proposal for the continued re-organisation and consolidation of the Garda station and District network including in particular the closure of some Garda Stations. I must stress that the principal aim of closing Garda stations around the country is to allow the more efficient deployment of personnel and the more effective delivery of policing services to the public. It is also the case that, even after the proposed closures, we will still have a high number of police stations by international standards.
