294. Deputy Robert Dowds asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government his plans to publish proposals on a directly elected mayor for Dublin; and the date on which he expects to publish same. [55226/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Government’s approach to the introduction of a directly elected mayor in Dublin is set out in the Action Programme for Effective Local Government- Putting People First. Part 5 of the document outlines some of the potential benefits and other issues associated with the concept and indicates that a special forum of the elected members of the four Dublin local authorities will be convened to consider the options for governance, including the introduction of a directly elected Mayor, which will be put for decision through a plebiscite in 2014. Terms of Reference for the forum will be published in due course.
