401. Deputy Patrick O'Donovan asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the total allowable catch for salmon on the River Moy between the years 1984 and 1994 inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9914/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Wild Salmon and Sea Trout Tagging Scheme commenced for both commercial and recreational salmon fishing licence holders on 1st January 2001, having been provided for in the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1999 (No. 35 of 1999). This was followed by the introduction of Total Allowable Catches (TAC) for the commercial salmon fishing sector and bag limits for recreational anglers in 2002. As TACs were only introduced in 2002 there is no TAC data for the years requested by the Deputy. However, Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) does have catch related data for the period and would be happy to share that with the Deputy. I have requested IFI in Mayo to meet with the Deputy to explain the data. IFI may be contacted at 096 22788 to set up the meeting at a mutually convenient time.
