424. Deputy Jerry Buttimer asked the Minister for Education and Skills if there is any financial support available, such as maintenance grants, for Irish resident students who undertake full-time undergraduate study in the United States of America; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The scheme of student grants extends maintenance grants to full-time undergraduate courses of not less than two years duration which are pursued in approved courses in approved institutions in another EU Member State. Courses pursued in countries outside of the EU are not approved for grants purposes.
