501. Deputy Billy Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the position regarding septic tank registration (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24246/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Water Services (Amendment) Act 2012 requires the owner of a premises connected to domestic waste water treatment system to ensure that the system is registered on a register established and maintained by the local authority in whose functional area the system is located. Section 70B(5) of the Act provides that a certificate of registration for a domestic waste water treatment system issued to the owner will be valid for five years. The Act also requires the owner to renew the certificate of registration on or before the expiry date. However, the legislation does not provide for a re-registration fee and I have no plans to introduce such a fee.
