81. Deputy Michael Moynihan asked the Minister for Finance his views on whether bank stress tests should be completed prior to the completion of Ireland's programme of EU / IMF support; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23931/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraIt is Government policy to align as closely as possible the timing of any stress testing of the Irish banking system with that of the stress testing of the European-wide system. As part of the agreement relating to the State’s exit from the programme of EU/IMF support, an evaluation is required to demonstrate that the banks are adequately capitalised. The State, therefore, may be required to complete its stress testing somewhat ahead of the rest of the European system.
