459. Deputy Stephen S. Donnelly asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government with regard to the algae in Dubin City Council's water filtration system which is leaving some areas of north County Wicklow without water (details supplied) the steps his Department will take to ensure a speedy resolution; the projected timeline for the resolution of the problem; the interim measures that can be taken to alleviate the inconvenience for those affected by the issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in the Topical Issue Debate on this matter on 22 May, my Department has no responsibility for, or role in, the management, maintenance or operation of water infrastructure. However, in view of the problems being experienced in the areas referred to in the Question, my Department met with officials from Wicklow County Council and Dublin City Council on 27 May. The Councils have confirmed to my Department that all possible steps are being taken to alleviate the problem and that the quantity of water being produced at the Roundwood treatment plant has increased in recent days. Wicklow County Council will be using monies allocated by my Department under the small schemes element of the Rural Water Programme to address difficulties being experienced with the water supply in the Kilpedder area.
