243. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Health if he will consider removing the part of the Pharmacy Act that prohibits a bankrupt person from registering as a pharmacist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [34065/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraSection 14(1)(f) of the Pharmacy Act 2007 provides that one of the requirements for registration as a pharmacist is that the person is not an undischarged bankrupt. Some technical amendments have been sought to the Pharmacy Act 2007 including an amendment to section 14(1)(f) to remove the restriction on a person who is an undischarged bankrupt from being registered in the Register of Pharmacists. These amendments are currently being examined and will be considered for inclusion as part of any future amendments to the Act.
