155. Deputy Andrew Doyle asked the Minister for Finance if discussions have been held between officials in his Department on reintroducing a car scrappage scheme in the coming twelve months; if discussions have taken place with other Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received a pre-Budget submission from SIMI which includes, among other things a proposal for a swappage scheme. All such proposals will be considered in the context of the forthcoming Budget.
