Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the number of new houses commenced in County Meath in the years 2011, 2012 and to date in 2013; the number of these that are social houses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department collates and publishes a wide range of housing and planning statistics that inform the preparation and evaluation of policy, and those data are available on my Department’s website www.environ.ie. Data on the number of new house commencements are included in this range. These commencements relate to private housing starts. While my Department funds the provision of social housing units, specific data on commencement notices in respect of these units are not collated by my Department.
