341. Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Defence if a cost-benefit analysis has been undertaken by his Department on the impact of Ireland signing the Antarctic treaty; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [48317/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraIreland is not currently a party to the Antarctic Treaty. Consideration of any such treaty is a matter in the first instance for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and as such any questions in relation to this matter should be addressed to my colleague, the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and I understand that the deputy has addressed a similar question to him.
