291. Deputy Stephen S. Donnelly asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if precedence will be given to Garda reserves in the upcoming recruitment drive recently announced; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [51580/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Garda Síochána (Admissions and Appointments) (Amendment) Regulation 2006, expressly provided that the Public Appointments Service would take into account any satisfactory service by a person as a reserve member of the Garda Síochána when they were applying to join the full time force. These same provisions for Reserve members are being incorporated into the new regulations. Arrangements are currently being finalised in conjunction with the Garda Commissioner and the Public Appointments Service for the holding of the recently announced Garda recruitment competition, including in relation to the processing of applications by members of the Garda Reserve.
