56. Deputy Simon Harris asked the Minister for Education and Skills the position regarding the construction of a new school (details supplied) in County Wicklow; the expected completion date for construction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [52162/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe school building project referred to by the Deputy is at an advanced stage of architectural planning. It is anticipated that the Design Team will shortly be in a position to submit the Stage 2b (Detailed Design) to my Department for review. Once this review has been completed my Department will be in contact with the Board of Management and Design Team with regard to the progression of the project to tender and construction. However, until the tender exercise to appoint a main contractor is concluded, it will not be possible to indicate the expected start date or completion date for the construction stage. The Design Team are working closely with the school authority and, in conjunction with my DEpartment, will keep the school fully informed as the project progresses through the remaining stages.
