530. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Justice and Equality his plans in view of recent revelations to look at the legality of surrogacy here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2954/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs I have previously indicated, I have been engaged in the preparation of a General Scheme of a Children and Family Relationships Bill. I intend to bring my detailed proposals to Cabinet very shortly, with a view, subject to Government approval, to publication and consultation. I expect that proposals in relation to surrogacy and its legal status will be extensively considered in context of that consultation process.
