441. Deputy Pat Breen asked the Minister for Social Protection when a decision on a domiciliary care allowance appeal will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Clare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4264/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraAn application for domiciliary care allowance was received from the person concerned on the 5th April 2013. This application was referred to one of the Department’s Medical Assessors, who provided an opinion that the child was not medically eligible for the allowance. A letter issued on the 5th June 2013 advising of the decision to disallow the application. The person concerned subsequently lodged an appeal against this decision. As part of the appeal process, the case was reviewed by a second Medical Assessor on the 21st January 2014. Their opinion was also that the child was not medically eligible for the allowance. The file was forwarded to the Social Welfare Appeals Office on the 22nd January 2014 for the appeal to be processed.
