Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources if he will review a case where a person is being held liable for a TV licence but is not the owner of the television (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe sale of TV licences and the associated inspection process is an operational matter for An Post as the Minister's statutorily-appointed agent under the Broadcasting Act 2009. There is no provision for the type of review suggested by the Deputy and, as such, I do not consider it appropriate for me to intervene in this matter.
That said, however, I have asked my officials to bring the circumstances of the case as presented by the Deputy to the attention of An Post.
