189. Deputy Michelle Mulherin asked the Minister for Finance the priority that is given by the National Asset Management Agency to the retention of jobs as a consideration in the sale of businesses as a going concern or other assets; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7825/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraNAMA is obliged by Section 10 of the NAMA Act to obtain the best achievable return. However, NAMA attaches a very high priority to the preservation of jobs in any businesses that have loans with the Agency. As evidence of this, NAMA, through the deployment of working capital, is directly supporting 15,000 jobs in Ireland in trading businesses linked to its loans. The sectors involved include property, hotel and leisure, retail, health care, manufacturing and agriculture.
