Deputy Derek Keating asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the reason the Taxi Regulator has imposed a limit of nine years, after the initial registration for holding a taxi vehicle licence, where a car may no longer be licensed as a taxi in view of the fact that every year a car licensed as a taxi must have a national car test and approval in order to maintain the licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
