Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Education and Skills the reason schools are outsourcing the correction of pre-papers for the junior certificate and leaving certificate; if this practice is at the discretion of the school; if any concessions are available for those with medical cards or low income households in order to meet the costs passed onto parents as a result of this practice; the number of schools who engage in this practice; the average cost per student of the corrections; the savings made by his Department as a result of this measure; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
